There are excellent job opportunities in nursing and midwifery. Experienced nurses are required for a variety of areas, particularly critical care, emergency, mental health, neonatal intensive care, paediatrics, and rural.
WA Health is committed to ensuring the State's public health service is well equipped to promote and protect the health of Western Australians now and into the future. We are upgrading our hospitals and building new facilities, including a new state-of-the-art tertiary hospital in the southern metropolitan area and we are implementing a range of strategies to increase the numbers of nurses and midwives and support their workload through national benchmark levels of nurse-to-patient ratios.
Since 2006, WA Health has sponsored the employment of over 750 trained nurses and midwives from overseas.
