Armadale Health Service
Armadale Health Service is a general teaching hospital located in the foothills of Perth.
In addition to a variety of clinical areas, Armadale Health Service offers a range of services in mental health including inpatient and community, child and adolescent, adult, older adult, emergency department, liaison and mental health rehabilitation. Staff are supported in gaining experience across the range of services including a number of promotional opportunities.
Armadale Health Service has a strong commitment to providing free or discounted work-related education across the health service and has experience in developing nursing experts. Staff have included past recipients of the inaugural WA Bali Disaster Fellowship, the Rotary Professional Excellence award, the Dorothy McCarthy Award from Notre Dame University (chosen by students for the best mentor in that year) and finalists in the 2008 WA Nurse of the Year.
Armadale Health Service is approximately 18 hectares in size and has 277 beds. There are 1079 employees, 526 of whom are nurses. The general hospital has future growth planned between 2010 and 2015 which will see the number of beds increase to approximately 340. It is 35–45 minutes drive from the Perth central business district (CBD) and is easily accessible by public transport.
Graduate programs
Armadale Health Service offers a supportive graduate program in conjunction with Notre Dame University. Graduates who complete this program will receive the nationally recognised Graduate Certificate in Clinical Nursing, with all university fees paid by the health service. This comprehensive program provides the graduate with an exciting and rewarding experience as they make the transition from student to registered nurse. Entry into this program may also offer the graduate clinical rotations into speciality areas such as the Emergency Department, Dialysis Unit, Paediatrics or Mental Health Unit.
