Midwifery graduate program

A graduate nurse

King Edward Memorial Hospital does have a direct entry graduate midwifery program. This program is one-year duration and offers the following rotations:

  • approximately 17 weeks in an obstetric ward
  • 18 weeks in Labour and Birthing Suite
  • 1 week in the Visiting Midwifery Service
  • 10 weeks in clinics and a 6 week rotation in a speciality area such as – neonates, emergency centre, adult special care and maternal foetal medicine

Participants in this program are fully supported by staff development midwives in each area, a full time program clinical coordinator, experienced midwives in the all clinical areas as well as preceptors. Graduate midwives have access to study days specially prepared for beginning practitioners.

This program is advertised twice a year.
